Tree Planting Project February 1, 2006 Thanks to the generosity of our graduating students from the class of 2003, Coarsegold School was able to plant thirty trees on the school site to beautify the school and bring much needed shade for children. Each classroom was able to plant one tree with the help of our 8th grade students. We were especially proud of the leadership our current 8th graders showed in assisting the younger students and providing a positive role model. We are pleased with the outcome of the project, and hope the community will enjoy the trees for many years to come. |

Science Fun Day January 26, 2006 Coarsegold School held the 2nd Annual “Science Fun Day” on Thursday, January 26, 2006. Over seventy volunteers from Seniors Participating in Community Education (SPICE) and Yosemite High School joined parent volunteers to get students involved in hands-on science activities in Kindergarten through 5th grades. The high school students worked with elementary students and provided excellent examples for our younger students. The goal of the Science Fun Day was to interest younger students in the sciences with a special focus this year on careers in the sciences. Our volunteers showed how learning can really be fun, and set a positive example as science learners for children who are just beginning to discover science. We want to thank all of our volunteers who gave of their time to make this a powerful learning experience for children. |
